BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT
What happens during a physiotherapy session?
Your physiotherapist will conduct a thorough assessment of your condition, taking into account your medical history and any other situational factors. After the cause of the problem is identified, your physiotherapist will make a diagnosis and create a bespoke treatment plan for you.
Your physiotherapist will perform treatment(s) to help alleviate your pain, inflammation and injury, and will also provide you with advice on how to optimise your recovery, such as exercises and remedies that you can do at home between your physiotherapy sessions.
How long does a physiotherapy session last?
At Keen Health, each session is 50 minutes. However, we will ensure your treatment for the day is complete, and will not reduce or stop your treatment should it overrun the allotted time slot.
What equipment will be used in my physiotherapy session?
The equipment utilised in your treatment will depend on your physical condition and ailment. Once your physiotherapist completes their assessment of your condition, they will explain what equipment (if any) is required for your treatment, and answer any questions you may have on the device's function.
Will my physiotherapy session involve exercise?
While your physiotherapy treatment will not involve strenuous exercise, your physiotherapist will require you to perform some movements to help stimulate blood flow and reduce muscle stiffness in order to promote and improve muscle activity, flexibility and mobility. Therefore, please ensure you wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes that you can move in.
DURING YOUR APPOINTMENT
How many physiotherapy sessions will I require?
The number of sessions will depend on your injury and recovery needs, as well as your follow-through with exercises and remedies at home. Your physiotherapist will discuss this after their initial diagnosis.
Do I need to do anything outside of my session?
Your physiotherapist will recommend exercises and remedies to do at home in between sessions. This can have a substantial impact on the speed of your recovery, as your compliance will directly impact the treatment's efficiency and time taken to realise full recovery.
Can I continue physiotherapy after my injury has healed?
At Keen Health, we specialise in injury prevention and sports conditioning. If you would like help with such issues or other muscoskeletal-related goals, please speak to your physiotherapist who will be able to recommend any further sessions or course of action.
